The Anasazi IndiansFrom the fragmented references made roughly the ancient Anasazi Indians inTony Hillermans A Thief of Time, one can identify several culturalcharacteristics of this dusky tribe. One can discover how they lived, wherethey lived, their religion, simple day to day activities, and mysteries neartheir culture. Even though many references are made about this tribe, good dealwill never know the truth, for there is an unsolved mystery to why the Anasazidisappeared. Even to this day no one knows what happened to them.The location of over 100,000 Anasazi sites save been found outside ofBluff, Utah along the San Juan river. Anasazi Indians were very picky as towhere they lived. They chose to dwell in cliffs faced to catch the winter sunand shaded in summer, with enough floodplain to grow something and a source ofwater. These two tarradiddle stone dwellings in cliffs were built large enough to fit30 people in them. There is one odd fact about this the Anasazi supposedlyc arried roof beams more than 50 miles from the forests of Mt. Taylor and Chuskas.These Indians lived as small scattered families of hunters and seed gatherers.They developed agriculture, learned to make baskets and irrigate.The Anasazi religion was very antithetic compared to other religions ofthe world.
